17th – 27th of April 2025
11 Day Plant dieta and Ayahuasca Retreat with Maestra Matilde in the amazonian jungle
Join me for an 11-day (10 nights) plant medicine retreat with Matilda at Inca Shipiba in the Peruvian Amazon.
17-27th of April 2025
I fell in love with Matilda and her family. And I would love to continue to share this authentic life changing experience with Ayahuasca and plant medicine with you.
A few impressions from the retreat grounds at Inca Shipiba from our retreat in April 2023.
Why a plant dieta in the jungle?
Embarking on a plant dieta experience in the lush Peruvian jungle is a transformative journey like no other. Surrounded by the vibrant biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest, participants have the opportunity to connect deeply with the healing power of plant medicines and themselves.
Under the guidance of experienced shamans and facilitators, this immersive experience allows individuals to engage in a traditional practice that has been passed down through generations. The dieta involves working closely with specific plants, such as ayahuasca, chacruna, or bobinsana, to name a few. These plants are believed to possess profound healing properties that can facilitate physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.
Throughout the dieta, participants adhere to a strict diet, abstaining from certain foods and engaging in practices that promote purification and introspection. This intentional lifestyle allows for a heightened sensitivity and receptivity to the plant spirits, fostering a deep connection and understanding of their teachings.
The dieta experience is not only about ingesting plant medicines but also about engaging in various rituals, like flower and plant baths, ceremonies and healing massages from Matilde. The jungle environment itself serves as a powerful ally, offering its wisdom and guidance as participants navigate their inner landscapes.
While the plant dieta experience can be challenging and intense, it is ultimately a profound opportunity for personal growth, self-discovery, and healing. Participants often report experiencing profound insights, emotional release, and a deep sense of connection to themselves, others, and the natural world.
By immersing oneself in the Peruvian jungle and engaging in a plant dieta, individuals open themselves up to the transformative power of these ancient healing practices. It is a journey that invites exploration, healing, and a deeper understanding of oneself and the interconnectedness of all beings.
Maestra Matilda comes from the native Shipibo community of Canáan de Cachiyaw. They are an indigenous tribe from the Pucallpa area, in the Yarina Cocha and Ucayali river regions of Peru. The tribe is credited with holding the traditions of the Amazonian brew Ayahuasca and still hold their traditions to this day.
The Shipibo people are widely recognised for their beautiful textiles and for their long history of using Amazonian Medicinal Plants for healing purposes.
Matilda has dedicated her life to the traditional teachings of Shipibo Shamanism, with over forty Eive years experience as a Curandera (healer). During this time Matilda has completed an extensive range of Amazonian Plant Dietas, which assist her in all of her Shipibo healing methods.
Matilda has helped many people suffering a wide range of psychological, physical and energetic issues both within the local community, and throughout Peru. Many foreigners have travelled from all over the world to work with her. Matilda works with people of all genders, but has particular expertise in working with female-related health conditions and issues.
What’s included in your 10 day with option to extend at Ahum Post dieta community.
4 Night Ayahuasca Ceremonies, Master plant dieta, 10 nights accommodations, meals, plant bath and energetic massage from Matilda when needed. Plus you can enjoy the grounds and natural streams.
The concept of the dieta in Shipibo traditions and some other Amazonian cultures is learning directly from the plant you are dieting. This means that you will spend your days alone in silence to observe your thoughts and your whole being. There will be no sharing circles or any similar activities. You will need to take responsibility for your own experience. The quieter you can be, the more you can get out of it.
Am not saying it will be easy. Being with oneself, with no distractions and no talking is very challenging, especially in the beginning.
But the more you drop into the being, you will start to receive messages in order to heal.
This work and retreat is for people dedicated to make a change in their life and in lives of others. By silencing your mind, switching off external distractions or chaotic energies of everyday life, you can become still enough to hear subtle messages. They will appear in your dreams, visions and or in the forest surrounding you.
Specific master plants have their characteristics, some are better for opening heart and emotions. Some give you a solid centre and strength, defence against hardships of life. Some make you more focused, able to do what you want but so far only claimed you want, including leaving your addictions. Other can heal stomach problems, rheumatism, depression.
Matilda will choose one that’s appropriate for you, often after the first ayahuasca ceremony. She has a very strong intuition so trust her guidance without rationalising.
You can diet one of many plant teachers available, such as Ajo Sacha (Mansoa Alliacea), Bobinsana (Calliandra angustifolia), Chiric Sanango (Brunfelsia grandiflora), Chuchuhuasi (Maytenus laevis) and others. You can choose yourself if you are experienced, or Matilda will choose according to your intentions and what she feels you need after the first ceremony.
So, you spend most of the time in isolation in your Tambo (little house). But because we share the grounds with the family and many animals, there will be some interaction if you walk around.
Twice or 3 times a day, a simple meal will be served in your Tambo or occasionally in the communal kitchen. The dieta food is without salt, sugar, spices, oil, no fruits, very limited vegetables.
On ceremony day we will only eat breakfast and lunch. The other days 3 meals are served.
You are suggested not to read or use internet but instead to focus on your interior, meditate and connect with nature. You are allowed all activity that does not involve seeking distraction from outside. For example you are encouraged to draw, write, especially note your dreams, do yoga, sing or play instruments.
How do I prepare for the Ayahuasca Retreat and Master Plant Dieta?
· IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO NOTIFY IN ADVANCE OF ANY SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUES, ESPECIALLY EXTREME BLOOD PRESSURE OR HEART PROBLEMS and MENTAL HEATH (past and or present).
· The most important things is putting aside any strong pharmaceuticals and drugs, especially antidepressants, at least 2 weeks before. Please be completely honest about what you are taking.
· Antidepressants are very dangerous in combination with ayahuasca. They are not compatible with the ingestion of Ayahuasca. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) work by raising your serotonin levels. For example Fluoxetine, Sertraline, Citalopram, Paroxetine, etc.
Any drug to treat depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADD, blood pressure medicines, cold or cough, anti allergies, anti inflammatories are not compatible with the ingestion of Ayahuasca. Also statins, opioids, amphetamines, medicines for nausea, asthma sprays and recreational drugs.
· Stay away from alcohol and pork, hard drugs, the longer the better, but minimum one week. Few days before also stay away from coffee, chocolate, cannabis.
· Please inform me about any medicines or supplements you are taking. In addition, you need to discuss in advance with me your herbal medicine and supplement intake so that you can follow the guidelines and ensure your system is clear before attending any ceremonies.
· Malaria medication is not recommended, the regional risk is very low and not worth the side effects of those drugs.
- Vaccinations are not obligatory.
- Very important is psychological preparation that includes focusing on your intentions for the dieta, the more precise they are, more efEicient your work can be during the process. It good to stick also to mental hygiene before diet, that includes questionable ethical behaviours, especially unhealthy sex practices that can trouble your conscience during isolation period (you will feel best what that means for you), but also avoid unnecessary contamination from excess of electronic media, junk entertainment etc.
· It is important that you communicate your food allergies, intolerances or preferences so we can design a menu that doesn’t break your diet. Please note that food during the retreat will be basic dieta food and free of salt, oils, meat and sugar (no fruit). It consists mostly of rice, quinoa, potatoes, beans, limited vegetables and eggs.
Through the use of Ayahuasca, you will embark on a profound journey of self-discovery, unraveling the enigmatic aspects of your own existence. This sacred plant medicine will guide you in unearthing deep-seated traumas that have long been concealed within your unconscious mind, empowering you to become the master of your own destiny and thoughts. It is important to note that this transformative experience does not grant immunity to sadness or suffering, but rather equips you with a heightened level of consciousness, enabling you to make more deliberate choices instead of being driven by forces beyond your comprehension.
The benevolent influence of the master or teacher plants will play a pivotal role in healing the symptoms that ail you. For instance, they will cleanse your physical and energetic bodies, purging the negative energies that have accumulated over years of neglect. Ayahuasca, in conjunction with a disciplined master plant dieta, can provide assistance in various areas of your life:
– Overcoming addictions, whether they be substance-related or other addictive behaviors.
– Alleviating depression and finding a renewed sense of purpose and meaning in life.
– Navigating through periods of feeling lost, confused, or uncertain during times of transition.
– Easing anxiety and breaking free from the constant cycle of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
– Improving emotional openness and enhancing relationships with family and partners.
– Boosting self-esteem and cultivating a healthier self-image.
– Managing anger and relinquishing excessive control over your life.
– Addressing the lingering effects of trauma, such as sexual abuse or childhood neglect.
– Coping with the pressures of a stressful lifestyle.
– Rediscovering inspiration and forging a deeper connection with your creative self.
– Cultivating self-love and appreciation.
– Embracing joy and experiencing the fullness of life.
With the aid of Ayahuasca and the master plant dieta, you will embark on a transformative journey towards healing, growth, and self-empowerment.
What should I take for my stay?
Passport which is still valid for a minimum of 6 months at the moment of entering Peru.
Better take a backpack than a suitcase – there is some walking involved in getting to the centre.

A raincoat and rubber boots or crocs – you can buy this cheaply in Iquitos
Towel and sarong for river washing
Natural soap and shampoo
Light clothes
For everyday use crocs are most practical.
Personal stuff such as contact lenses
If you play anything, take your instruments
Creative tools, such as notebook, sketchbook, pen, felt-tip pens, pencils.
